Rental Policies

This is a summary of our rental policies. Full terms and conditions appear in the Rental Agreement presented during checkout.

Eligibility & Verification

  • Age: Primary renter must be 25+.
  • License: Valid, unexpired U.S. driver’s license required for all drivers.
  • Verification: Eligibility and verification requirements vary by rental type, intended use, and risk factors. Required verification is not optional.
  • Driving Record: Driving history may be reviewed to confirm eligibility.
  • Insurance: Proof of insurance may be required and must be verifiable.
  • Outcome: If required verification is not completed, pickup may be delayed or the reservation may be canceled.

Payments & Deposit

  • Deposit: A refundable security deposit is required on all rentals and is released after return inspection.
  • Payment Methods: Major credit/debit cards. Prepaid cards and cash not accepted.

Rental Length & Extensions

  • All rentals are short-term and may not exceed 30 days in total.
  • Extensions may be approved based on availability; contact us prior to your return time.
  • Late returns may incur additional charges.

Vehicle Use

  • Classes: Reservations are by vehicle class; a specific unit is assigned at pickup.
  • Geography: Travel permitted within the continental U.S.; international travel is not allowed.
  • Towing/Commercial: No towing and no rideshare/delivery use unless enrolled in Gig+.

Mileage, Fuel & Tolls

  • Mileage: Standard rentals include daily mileage limits. Gig+ mileage options are described in Gig+ Program Policies below.
  • Fuel: Return at the same level as pickup; differences may be billed.
  • Tolls/Citations: Vehicles have Toll-Tags; all tolls and citations are billed to the renter.

Cleanliness & Smoking

  • No Smoking/Vaping: Prohibited. Additional cleaning charges apply if violated.
  • Pets: Pets are not permitted. Service animals are welcome in accordance with applicable law.
  • Excess Cleaning: Charges may apply for heavy soil, odors, spills, or bio-hazards.

Damage & Tires

  • Report any incident or new damage immediately.
  • Tires: Renters are responsible for tire damage and flat repairs during the rental period.

Add-Ons & Extras

  • Available at booking: Child car seats and windshield phone mounts (select during booking when available).

Pickup & Return

  • Location: 901 Terminal Rd. STE 700, Fort Worth, TX 76106.
  • Delivery: Not offered at this time.

Driver Eligibility & Verification

To protect our customers, our vehicles, and the public, What-A-Rental may require eligibility and verification before pickup and during a rental. Requirements vary by rental type, intended use, and risk factors.

Identity & License

  • All drivers must present a valid, unexpired driver’s license issued in their legal name.
  • Out-of-state licenses or limited license history may require additional review.
  • Prior verification may reduce repeat requests, but verification is not guaranteed to be waived.

Driving Record

  • Driving history may be reviewed to confirm eligibility.
  • Serious violations, excessive incidents, or recent adverse activity may result in denial or cancellation.
  • Standards may be stricter for certain vehicles or rental uses.

Insurance

  • Proof of insurance may be required and must be verifiable.
  • Coverage must remain valid for the entire rental period.
  • Unverifiable, expired, or mismatched information may delay or prevent vehicle release.

Limited Background Review

  • In certain situations, a limited background review may be required to assess eligibility.
  • Refusal or inability to complete a required review will result in denial or cancellation.

Company Discretion & Enforcement

  • What-A-Rental reserves the sole discretion to determine eligibility and required verification.
  • Required verification is not optional.
  • Failure to complete required verification may delay pickup, prevent vehicle release, or cancel the reservation.

Gig+ Program Policies

These policies apply to renters approved for the Gig+ program and supplement our standard policies above. Where there’s a conflict, Gig+ policies control. Learn more on the Gig+ page.

Eligibility

  • Age 25+ with a valid U.S. license and established driving history.
  • Active gig-platform account (e.g., Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Instacart, Amazon Flex).
  • Gig+ rentals have stricter eligibility and verification requirements.

Term & Inspections

  • Max 30 calendar days per rental—no exceptions.
  • Vehicle may be required to return for inspection and re-verification before renewal.
  • Periodic spot checks may be required.

Insurance

  • Proof of coverage may be required and must remain valid throughout the rental.
  • Coverage must be appropriate for the intended platform use.
  • If insurance verification cannot be completed, the rental may be delayed or canceled.

Mileage & Maintenance

  • Daily mileage limits apply.
  • Mileage upgrade options may be available during booking where applicable.
  • Follow any scheduled maintenance prompts and report issues immediately.

Payments & Deposit

  • A refundable security deposit is required (held until post-return inspection).
  • Renewals/extensions must be paid before continued use.

Vehicle Condition

  • Keep the vehicle clean; no smoking/vaping. Additional charges apply for odors or excess soil.
  • No towing. Commercial signage or modifications are not permitted.
